Writing-Editing-Academics

Please come back as I add more about my past career as writer, editor, publisher, scholar, and teacher.

As a writer, editor, and publisher, I wrote lifestyle articles, restaurant reviews, and food features, for the Virginian-Pilot and other publications, including Metro Magazine and the Washington Post. As a founder of Donning Company/Publishers, I edited pictorial histories, cookbooks, and more.

Electric Communication Across the Curriculum, edited by Donna Reiss, Dickie Selfe, and Art Young

My academic career includes writing and editing scholarly articles and book chapters and collections plus keynote talks, presentations, and workshops in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand with a focus on using electronic communication and digital portfolios for active learning.

From 2005 to 2008, at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, I founded and directed LitOnline, a faculty development project for effective teaching online, and I taught American Literature in person and online, retiring as Associate Professor Emerita of English.

At Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach, Virginia, from 1978 to 2005, I taught writing, literature, and humanities and directed the Writing Center, Writing-Across-the-Curriculum, Online Learning, and Distributed Teaching and Learning. I was among the earliest faculty to teach hybrid and online classes, retiring as Associate Professor Emerita of English.
